SEA ECONOMY SECTOR in the
The sea economy concerns all activities linked to the sea : industrial, logistics, innovation, agrifood, etc. The Basque Country is a top choice and a privileged destination for this sector. The surf industry, for example, with board sports, high-tech and sustainable development, brings together 130 companies, representing 5000 direct jobs and an annual turnover of around 2.5 billion euros.
Located half way between the ports of Bordeaux and Bilbao, the Port of Bayonne benefits from its privileged geographical location.
As a strategic point for European exchanges, it is a leading logistic platform. Located at the intersection of two motorways (north/south and east/west), the port is directly linked to the European rail network and is close to Biarritz international airport.
The port is capable of receiving all types of traffic: solid and liquid bulk, goods, metalworking products, containers, roll-on/roll-off, cabotage, special packages, etc.
The implementation of the Croissance-Bio cluster in the New Aquitaine region will enable major marine resources to be recycled, using new technologies and drawing inspiration from models created by nature (biomimicry, biosourced materials), in favour of a much more circular economy. Industrial activities must live side by side with tourism in order to enable the coastline to be managed.
