internet & fibre optics
Your business, like the rest of the world, has undoubtedly been impacted by the digital revolution which has taken place over recent years.
High-speed internet access is therefore essential for your interactions with both partners and clients. With this in mind, efforts have been made to provide you the very best fibre-optic broadband connections for your business.
Fibre optic technology has been around for some thirty years, and consists of thin glass or plastic wires enabling data to be sent over very long distances on the internet at nearly the speed of light.
The resulting computer network facilitates communication between various private and public organisations without geographical constraints.
Fibre optic broadband allows numerous computers to be connected simultaneously without the usual connectivity issues.
Deploying fibre-optic broadband across homes and businesses is part of the France THD Plan: a strategy launched in 2013, and due to be completed by 2022. Basque Country, reputed for its assets and its contribution to the national economy, is not lagging behind. The towns of Bayonne, Anglet, Biarritz, Boucau, Bidart, Hendaye, and Saint-Jean-de-Luz have been included in telecom giant Orange’s projected investment areas. An agreement has also been signed between local and district authorities, the government, and the internet provider to supervise and follow up work to deploy fibre optic connections across Basque Country. Work has been planned over a 15-year period, and by 2022, 90% of the department’s homes will be connected to high-speed broadband internet. Orange has created a website to enable the public to follow the evolution of this deployment in towns for both homes and businesses. After an eligibility test, those interested will be able to consult the offers of the different internet providers before the final connection is made.
